On With The Show ... This Is It!
FABRIGANZA FALL 2009
Sunday - Monday, September 20 - 21, 2009
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
|
|
The stage is set for the most spectacular Fabriganza known to man! New heights will be reached with incredible
classes that will help propel your shop into the next decade. Fantastic new teachers have come on board to enrich you with phenomenal ideas that will make your shop all that it can be!
Fabriganza continues to evolve into the place to be and to be seen.
This Fall we are thrilled to have Diane Phelan of Elizabeth's Studio join us and share all of her ideas with you. Diane is an industry onto herself. She is responsible for marketing note cards, books, puzzles and apparel. Her fabric collections depict both floral designs and country settings. Everything she does conveys the wonderment of nature!
Pearl Krush of Pearl Louise Designs is having an incredible summer at her shop, Thimble Cottage. Pearl always makes learning fun and continues to be one of the most popular teachers in the Quilting industry, and for good reason. Teachers of Pearl's caliber are few and far between, so take advantage of Pearl's good nature and join her in two not to be missed sessions.
Granola Girl Debbie Field has covered the gamut of the Quilting industry. Debbie has been creating incredible quilting patterns for almost two decades. She is an accomplished teacher and author of sought after quilting books and patterns. When Debbie and her family lived in the quad cities of Illinois, she was the proud owner of a successful quilt shop. So it is easy to see that Debbie knows her way around the quilt world! Debbie will bundle her expertise into two phenomenal classes that will take your shop to quilt immortality.
Kathy Brown of The Teacher's Pet has come up with a sensational new way to move old inventory out the door and not lose one penny from your bottom line. She will show you how to take the ugliest fabric in your shop and turn it into rugs, hot pads, chair seats, wall hangings and much more. So, pull the rug out from under sluggish sales and make room on your shelves for all the latest and greatest fabric today!
For those of you who are lucky enough to join us at Fabriganza, you will be privileged to participate in two classes that are being offered by renowned quilting expert, Beth Ferrier. Beth's credentials are enviable and make her someone to turn to when you need that extra bit of advice that will turn your classes from humdrum to energetic! She will give you the spark you need to ignite sales in your shop! Beth is a sought after teacher, author and columnist for American Quilt Retailer, the magazine that helps your shop in so many ways with each issue.
Kitty Jacobson of Landauer Publishing will be with us to show you how to generate sales through books. The best way to make your shop a success is to make sure that your customers know how to create family heirlooms with the fabric that you sell. Kitty will show you how to let books work for you when planning your classes. Kitty will show you how to reach for books that go beyond the basics and offer your customers alternatives. Kitty has so much to say that you will be able to join her on both Sunday and Monday for two different talks on creative techniques to boost sales in your shop.
A detailed class schedule is on the
Fabriganza Fall 2009 Registration Form.

One on One Time With Your Favorite Reps
|
|
How often has it happened that when your reps come to see you the phone rings? Or, customers come swarming into your shop? Or you were so excited to see your rep that you forget what you were doing and left the water in the sink on and it overflowed? Or you get an emergency call from your daughter-in-law that you have to go pick up your grandchild at school because the girl sitting next to him/her has just come down with the chicken pox? All too often, that's how many times.
So what does that all mean? It means pick up your big girl panties and get over to Fabriganza! This is the one place in this entire universe where you can sit without fear of interruption and pick your rep's brain. You can take all the time that you need to see all of the fabric that you want.
For those of you from Iowa and Wisconsin, come on in and see Jim Ernst. If you are from Illinois or Minnesota, Ordell Sorum will be at your beck and call. If you call Michigan home, or live in Northern Indiana or Ohio, Bob McCarty will be here to help. If you live in Southern Indiana or Ohio, or reside in Kentucky, Don Merrill will be here to take care of you. Jim Kunik will be here for those who have journeyed from Pennsylvania, New York or New Jersey. Don't forget, the shop owner who travels the farthest will win a $100 gas card!
In addition to Troy's own reps, reps for AvLyn, South Seas, RJR (with the new Thimbleberries Club) and Blue Hill Designs will be here to give you entree to the latest collections and preview Quilt Market releases.

Follow The Dots To Savings
|
|
How many times have you wished that you could buy everything your sales reps show you? Too many! It isn't easy to hold back the bolt buying urge, but you don't have to when you take advantage of the incredible prices at Fabriganza.
Remember, everything at Troy is first quality, but there are bolts of fabric on Troy's shelves that need to be sold at close-out pricing. After all, we need to make way for the latest collections from your favorite mills. The best part of taking advantage of buying superior fabric at stupendous savings is that it will all be new to your customers.
Look for dotted bolts of fabric to add dollars to your bottom line. When you check in at the front desk, you will be given information telling you what each color dot will mean to you as a shop owner. So connect the dots and you will connect to big savings!
|
Don't Think of it as a Remnant
Think of it as the Opening Act
|
|
Shops are sometimes judged on how many bolts they carry. Five hundred is sometimes thought of as a smaller shop, while four thousand is very often considered large. And, no one wants to have gaps on the shelves. If nothing else, they want the appearance of having a well stocked store, where bolts are not turned sideways to fill in the holes left when they have fewer bolts on the shelf.
So, what is the secret to making your shelves swell with fabric pride? Remnant bundles. When you buy a remnant bundle you are purchasing 50 to 100 yards of first quality fabric in five yard cuts. Each of the 5 yard cuts can become a bolt by putting it on an unneeded board. Fifty yard bundles suddenly become ten bolts to fill in your stock, 100 yard bundles create twenty new bolts. And the best part is, you can work this magic for a fraction of the regular price.
Troy's Excelsior Division (Flatfold and Remnant Bundle Department) is known for having the best bundles in the industry. The selection is wide and gives you the option of purchasing fabric that you might not otherwise be able to afford. Bundles help give your shop a diverse appearance and make it a place for quilters to go to when they need that special piece of fabric that no one else seems to have.
Think of remnant bundles like that little black dress that hangs in your closet. You know the dress, the one you turn to when you are can't find "anything to wear." You put on your pearls and that dress saves the day the way a bundle saves the day when you put it on a board and dress up your shop. So when you are at Fabriganza make it a point to look through our remnant aisles and pick up that essential bundle that will turn your shop into a bundle of joy.
